This week’s prompts look interesting.
Here is my interpretation of “Rainbow.” ☺ Yesterday was a busy day, so didn’t have time to do something more elaborate.
And a quote for today.
Enjoy your day!

icad catch up
Before I get started, I just want to thank everyone for your kind words and hugs and prayers this week while I’ve been dealing with Abby’s passing.
Everyday gets a little easier. Not a lot. But a little.
I’m finally starting to remember the healthy Abby and all those wonderful memories and not so much the sick Abby and those last few days of her life.
Sigh….
So now, I’m catching up with this week’s ICADs. I focused on some of the prompts for the week. Those are helpful when I get stuck on what to doodle.
Thanks again to Tammy for this great challenge. Can you believe the first month is nearly done??

abby
She is gone. Little Abby is gone now.
I am sad. Beyond sad.
Last night, I put her food bowls in the dishwasher. Now the floor is bare. This morning I cried when I saw that space where her bowls should be.
This morning’s sunshine is empty without a cat sleeping in it. I cry to see it without her there.
All her blankets are in the washing machine now. Later, they will be folded and put away in the closet.
I think I will keep her little cat bed in my office for a while. I need to see it there. Even if it makes me cry.
For nearly 19 years, she was my cat and I was her person. I miss her soft fur and her loud purring.
I just miss her.
Please forgive me if I take a few days. I’ll be back soon. I just want to be sad for a little while.

icad #22
Yesterday…a neighborhood. Today…a city. An imaginary one.
I did this last month and thought I would share again this month.
Currently, I’m…
Reading: “Diaries: 1969-1979: The Python Years” by Michael Palin
Trying: to keep up with ICAD challenge and Summer of Color challenge
Eating: blackberries…fresh from the farmer’s market today
Drinking: lots of lemonade…it’s very, very hot here
Pinning: ideas for art studios…I’m thinking of cleaning up the clutter in mine.
Enjoying: a visit from my grandson
Feeling: sad. My cat is near the end…we are doing our best to keep her comfortable now

icad #21
Busy day doodle. It’s supposed to be a neighborhood.
I started out with houses and streets. Then, it needed some trees and shrubs and flowers. And a few cars. Then a swimming pool and some garden plots.
I’m having too much fun with this ICAD challenge!!

summer of color and icad #19
For week 2 at Summer of Color, the colors are Orange and Hot Pink.
I started with this background.
And added a cool, summer beverage!!
Today’s icad uses the Orange and Hot Pink, too.

icad #17 and #18
Just some quick doodles…things on a line.
I think that’s what I like about working with index cards…they already have “something” on them, so it’s not like starting with a blank piece of paper!!

icad #15 and another summer of color
Today…some flower doodles for ICAD. I have lots of flowers blooming in my garden now. None of them look like this though ☺
Also, was inspired to do another Summer of Color image. Fell in love with the Citron Green and Turquoise combo for week 1. Wonder what the color(s) will be for next week???

summer of color - week 1 and icad#12
Today, I finished my first week’s painting for Summer of Color.
A fun challenge with new colors introduced each week. This week: Citron Green and Turquoise.
I started out with some paint and a straw…I really like this technique now!!
But it needed something.
So…
I made a small image to plunk down on top of this juicy background…a summer beverage for summer of color. Now it looks just right to me ☺
And I doodled up a quick index card for this challenge. This size is perfect for doodling while doing other things: watching TV, talking on the phone, whatever. So relaxing.

icad #10
Glued a page from a paperback book to the index card today, then drew this little guy.
I was just going to ink the dark areas but opted for paint instead.

icad #9 and a self-portrait
Another art quote.
And a non-index card painting of me with my new glasses.
I found this wonderful website last year when I was searching for frames. They do only retro styles. If you watch 1950s or 1960s period movies, they are the company that provides the prop glasses.
I wanted something fun. I mean, if I have to wear glasses, I might as well do it with style ☺
This year I chose these…in Ebony.
Last year I got these…in Pewter.
Not sure what I’ll be in the mood for next year.

icad #5, #6 and #7
Thanks for your well wishes about Abby. She is doing better. We are down to one seizure a day, but each time it is getting shorter and shorter in duration. About 30 seconds now. The first one was about 15 minutes long!!!
She is still wobbly at times but gaining strength every day.
This is a cat who has been given 6 months to live….at least 3 times in her life! The first time at age 15. She is now almost 19!!
I always joke that she will outlive me!
Anyway, I found time to do some quick index card drawings. It’s the scanning part that always gets me behind.
So here I present the last few days worth of doodles. I tried to stick to the Rainbow theme this week. Next week, I believe the theme is “ink”…I’ll have fun with that!

hey friends
I missed ICAD #5 yesterday and will probably miss today as well.
Abby cat has been sick and I’ve been spending extra time tending to her.
She woke me up in typical alarm cat fashion on Sunday…she likes to lick my eyelids. That always wakes me up in a hurry! But later that day, she had a seizure.
A trip to the vet on Monday and we picked up some new meds. Which only made things worse.
So now I alternate my time with cuddling her and crying over her. She is nearly 19 years old. My head knows that the end can’t be far away but my heart has not caught up with this yet.
My husband and I had a talk last night and had decided that today was THE day we would say good-bye to her. One last time.
But Abby woke us up early saying she was hungry. Hungry NOW!
So now, we’ll see how today goes and just take it a day at a time.

icad #3
Old blue…my bicycle. Only mine doesn’t have cool streamers on the handle bars!!
I pasted some grid paper on the card and then doodled in the fence. Grid paper is excellent for doodles!!
On a side note…
Rabbits are soooooo cute. Until they start eating your plants!!

Well, so far, so good. Only 60 more to go!
This was relatively painless. I decided to bring out my markers to work on the index cards. If I keep it simple, I may be able to keep up.
Thanks to Tammy at Daisy Yellow for bringing this challenge together.
