icads july 3 thru 9
I submit this week’s ICADs:
Here is a selection of things I ate this week.
I have to eat as many as possible while they are in season.
Vanilla soft-serve ice cream. Yum!
A recipe I found on Pinterest. Mine wasn’t as pretty, but tasted just great!
I fixed butter chicken, rice and naan. So, of course, you must have mango lassi.
Who am I kidding? I had two.
Nothing better than summer tomatoes.
From my friend’s garden.

icad 1 2 3 and 4
I decided to do a themed ICAD challenge again this year. I enjoyed drawing my food so much last year, I decided to do it again.
Here are my first four.
We drove to Little Rock for a couple days. So we ate out. I had some really delicious food but now it’s back to normal.
Today is our 11th wedding anniversary. I’ve known my husband since 1984 but we didn’t get married until 2004.
We didn’t want to rush into anything ☺

happy birthday…
…to my sister, Jan. I sent her a piece of birthday cake ☺
Just recently, I started making my own birthday cards. Mostly for family. I have a large family, so it keeps me busy! For December, I have seven cards to make!
For this one, I used a gelli print I made a few months ago as a background to the watercolor cake. Chocolate cake is my favorite, hope she likes it, too.

another recipe
I drew out the instructions for making a homemade vanilla latte. It’s ok…I just didn’t think it visually “popped” though.
This is a recipe I use everyday. I’m too cheap to buy a coffee house latte everyday to feed my addiction ☺

first assignment
Sketchbook Skool started last week. Our first assignment was to illustrate a simple recipe.
I took my favorite burger and illustrated it. I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

in the garden
The gardens in my yard are starting to look pretty droopy and sad. Not enough rain and now we have cooler temps at night. Fall is coming.
But here is a snapshot of what’s going on this week.
Poppies, Marigold, purple Salvia and a Mexican Sunflower.
Zinnias.
Tomatoes times a million!! (I’ve been having tomatoes at every meal for weeks now.) I do love fresh tomatoes though.
And one lone watermelon. The vines stretch for miles … almost … but there is just the one melon. It should be ready to pick this week. I hope.
Happy Paint Party Friday!

icad finale
The weather here is so stinkin’ hot that it’s perfect for staying indoors!
Plenty of time to finish up on my ICADs.
I can’t believe 61 days of ICADs have gone by.
I really enjoyed playing with my new Gelli Plate and drawing food.
To keep them all together, I created an accordion booklet. It’ll be fun to look back and savor the summer ☺
