29 faces -- #27, #28, #29
Whew…I made it!! It’s always such a sense of accomplishment to finish a whole month of making faces!!
This was fun making 29 one-liners based on family photos. Although if you compared the drawings with the photos…you might not be able to match them up!!
Thanks to Martha once again for hosting this!

29 faces #23, #24, #25, #26
Well, another February is coming quickly to a close. So here are 4 more one-liner faces for the 29 Faces challenge.
I’ve been doodling all sorts of things lately but they are either half done or in the trash bin! That’s pretty much how it is here lately! I’m hoping next week will be a little more productive!
Thanks for stopping by…have a great weekend!

29 faces #19-#22 and a question!
Playing catch up on my posts for the 29 Faces challenge.
Thanks to everyone for the offer of your family photos!! I think I’ll have enough to finish the challenge. My problem is that sometimes the faces in the photos are so tiny…I can’t make out facial expressions.
But then, I guess I will just make up what I can’t see. That’s the fun part of being an artist!! Right?
I have a question for you. I’ve been looking into creating a website of some of my favorite paintings and drawings. Sort of a gallery- or portfolio-type site.
Does anyone have recommendations on nice and easy options for websites/hosting?? I’m looking at Squarespace…for ease of use and reasonable monthly fees. Any other recommendations??
At my old “day job,” I built websites for our in-house site. I’d rather not work from scratch when I can grab widgets that are tried and true!! ☺ That’s a last resort!

29 faces #16, #17, #18
Three more one-liner faces for the 29 Faces challenge. We’re getting close to the end. So far, I’ve been using old family photos as reference but I’m starting to run out!
See you in a few days.

29 faces #13, #14, #15
Well, I’m still keeping up making faces for the 29 Faces challenge. Still trying to do one-liners…but I’m sort of loving the white sharpie on the tan paper. Then I forgot and added the dots to the dress on #15. Oh, well…it’s ok to break rules now and then!
As simple or silly as some of these faces look, I’ve tossed out nearly as many that didn’t make the cut!!
I like when they sometimes come out a little wonky. But some are just freaking scary!! Those I won’t share with you here on the blog.
Trust me on this…you wouldn’t want to see them!
Back soon with more faces…

29 faces #11 and #12
Here are a couple more faces for the challenge. Is everyone keeping up???
This one is a one-liner.
This one started out as a one-liner but then I couldn’t resist adding the freckles. Then I got carried away and decided to experiment with some white ink.
Back in a few days with more faces. Have a good weekend!

29 faces #9 and #10
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments about this 29 Faces challenge.
I’m still drawing one-liners in my tan notebook. Some one-liners are easier than others!!
See you in a couple days with more faces!

29 faces
I’m still working from old black and white family photos. Here are Faces 4 through 8…the last one has two people so that puts me ahead by one day!!
I had to go out of town for a couple days, so I’m slowly making my way through other blogs.
Please excuse me for not replying here on your comments. I try to reply if someone asks a specific question. Otherwise, I would rather repay the favor and visit your blogs. Is that considered rude??
Be sure to check out others who are making 29 Faces this year.

29 faces
It’s time again for 29 Faces challenge. I think this is the 3rd year I’ve participated but it’s been going on for 4 years. Be sure to check out others who are participating!!
And feel free to join us…it’s not too late!
I’ve been drawing these one-liners in my new “Tan Toned” sketchbook but as usual my posting skills are a big Fail!!
So here are Day 1, 2 and 3. I worked from old family photos for my models.
I’ve been trying to NOT get on the computer everyday as I tend to get side tracked on stupid cat videos and other junk! So, please check back in a few days for more faces!
Now…I’m off to check out your blogs and see what Faces you are making!!

faces #28 and #29
Another 29 Faces challenge has come to an end.
Here are my last two faces … both are Mr. Julian Etlinge … a famous female impersonator!!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my 29 faces … I had a blast working on them!! I find it so much easier when I work on a theme. Having found this old book really helped me to draw faces. Most of these stars I’ve never heard of but I just love old black and white photos!

face #27
Just when I think I’m getting the hang of these one-liners, then I produce a freak show like this one!!
My apologies to Ms. Dalton. Her smile was really lovely and I’ve turned it into a big toothy grin!!
Oh, well, I promised myself to show the good, the bad and the ugly! So…here is the bad and ugly!

face #26
I’m not sure I like the background on this one but I do like how her face turned out. Still, my one-liner doesn’t do her justice.

face #24 and some doodles
I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a movie with Theda Bara but I do know who she is. I always picture her with the heavy eye makeup.
So here is my one-liner for today. I can’t believe it’s the last week of the 29 Faces challenge!! Doing a face a day makes the month just fly by!
And I have to show you one more thing I did yesterday. This was an exercise for Year of the Spark!
The assignment was to:
- Make some marks on four index cards.
- Cut them into 4 pieces.
- Then choose one piece of each card and complete a doodle.
I had a piece of scrap graph paper so I used that instead of index cards.
Using some alphabet stamps, I stamped on my papers. Overlapping the letters just to make marks.
Then I cut up my papers. Here are my “before” and “after” images.
It was so fun because each drawing just sort of emerged! I let my pencil fill in the blanks!

“All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.”
Does anyone remember that movie??

faces #21 and #22
I’m posting early today so I don’t forget. Yesterday just got away from me. I had too many things to do on my day off and before I knew it, it was time for bed!
So here are my one-liners for #21 and #22 for 29 Faces challenge.
I don’t know much about this silent film star but I would guess that he mostly played villains! He just has that look about him.
Photos can be found in this book.

My apologies to Mary Anderson. Wonky eyes and a HUGE mouth!
And apparently, she has the measles, too!

Finally!! A profile that I like!
Plus, I like this gelli print … the colors look nice together, I think.

face #18
I tried to use a calligraphy pen to add some drama to my one-liner.
Now I think it’s too much drama ☺
Oh, well.
