Halloween…I was probably 6 or 7…and mom helped me create one of THE best costumes!! It was the next best thing to being a princess…or so I thought.

Between the snores on the other side of the bed and Luna purring under the covers….it’s no wonder I can’t sleep through the night.

Luna loves to take a bath…right on my pillow.

You think she would get the hint because I pick her up and move her every single night! Why can’t she take care of this some place else?

This cat cracks me up. I forgot how much kittens love to attack your feet while you try to sleep!!

Luna does this full body jump in the air before landing on your feet for the kill. So much energy in such a small body ☺

adventures of luna

I’m on vacation this week so have a little extra time for doodling. I’m working on a series of drawings about my new alarm cat….Luna.

She is a blue point Siamese mix…but the paint never ends up exactly as I envision. Oh, well.

Today’s doodle is about me “trying” to read in bed at night. Animals do not understand books at all. Why would anyone want to stare at paper?? It must really confuse the heck out of them!

She is always so entertaining at nighttime. I can never get mad at her for getting in the way of a good book.

i remember...

As the mornings get chillier, I’m reminded of my favorite breakfast as a child….cocoa and toast. I had this every morning before going to school.

Nowadays I have tea and cold cereal. But every once in a while, I get nostalgic and long for mom’s homemade cocoa. And toast dripping with butter! Real butter!

too many irons in the fire

At work, I have a reputation for being SO organized. If only that carried over in my personal life!! As hard as I try to finish one thing before starting the next, I just can’t seem to do it.

Here is one of the many things that I actually completed. It’s another sketch for my “I remember” book.

This drawing is about when I was helping my grandma unload groceries from the car. I was probably 6 or 7 years old…and thought I was big enough to handle a watermelon single-handedly!!

My grandma didn’t get mad when I dropped it. She just helped me pick it up and eat it!!

I was out of town for the weekend so I’m playing catch up today. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

i remember...

I’ve been working on these little sketches for some time now. Every now and then, I jot down another memory and when I have time, I create a little doodle.

When I get enough of them, I plan to make a little book for my mom and dad. Maybe one for my daughter and grandson. They might enjoy them, too.

I wish my mom and dad would write down some of their memories for me. I would love to have them. No matter how silly they may seem, I know I would treasure them.

dobby and luna

Well, if you’ve been with me for a while, you know I don’t share many photos. But today because it’s been a busy day and I didn’t get any sketching done and because Dobby “graduated” from the Beginner class at doggie school…here are pics of the new kids in town.

Here is Dobby. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll recognize the name. However, our Dobby is a she, not a he. She doesn’t seem to mind though ☺

And here is little Luna. She’s only been with us a week and a half but I can tell she’s going to be quite a character!!

They both have crept into my heart…that’s for sure!

I did a series called “My Apologies to…” back in October 2012. It was a fun way to take a different look at some classic pieces of art. I’m working on a couple new paintings this weekend.

Just a couple of quick sketches from my journal. I’m still having trouble balancing art time with “kid” time ☺ I’m out of practice, I guess.

We're finishing up our "doggie school." We've learned so much...sit, stay, come (illustrated above), leave it and No Bark!

On the dog/cat front, still taking baby steps. We’ve had them in the same room. But each time, Dobby dog goes wild and I’m afraid for kitty Luna. She is not afraid at all. All 4 pounds of her are brave!

So for the time being, Dobby gets to see Luna…but only on leash. I’ll feel more comfortable when the cat is more familiar with the house and learns some good places to hide, if necessary.
