I mentioned this book way back last September. Drawing Labs for Mixed-Media Artists by Carla Sonheim is really great when you just want to play or experiment with new techniques or media.
This is my attempt at Lab 13 – Eyedropper Faces.
First, fill an eyedropper with ink. I used a dark blue watercolor instead.
Then use the eyedropper to draw the face.
After the faces are dry, I painted some areas to show detail.
Of course, I had to use ink pens after that to add more detail. It’s just not finished if it doesn’t have ink on it!

insomnia
Sometimes I read. Sometimes I watch a movie. My favorite thing is to sit down with my ipod and a sketchbook and just doodle. You never know what will happen.

schoolhouse and vegetable stand
Not sure where I got these. Most likely a flea market because I don’t think these are from places I’ve ever visited. Not that I remember anyway.

pub and corner grocer
More in this series. Both of these from Great Britain.
Hope you all had a great weekend. It was very rainy here…but I don’t mind. It’s been very dry. I love a good thunderstorm now and then.

little houses
Lately I’ve been doodling
little things around the house.
I have a small collection of
houses and buildings that I pick up when I travel. Collectibles …. a.k.a. … Dustibles.
Here’s one I picked up when
I was in France several years ago. It sits on the shelf next to this one.

new recipe for TheyDraw&Cook
So many good things going on here.
Number 1…the weather has cooled down about 20 degrees. I can go outside again without melting!
Number 2…there’s a new theme over at The Sketchbook Challenge … unfurled. Hmmm…what to do? What to do? Can anyone give me some inspiration??
Number 3…I posted a new recipe at TheyDraw&Cook. I love this site…cooking & drawing…two of my favorite things to do!

things i ate
I’m working on a couple of
paintings this weekend. Maybe they’ll be ready to share in the next day or so.
For now, here’s a doodle of
what I ate yesterday. It was not a
healthy food kinda day. Except for maybe the watermelon.
