my day job

I never show on my blog anything I do for my day job. Most of the time, it’s very corporate-looking stuff or proprietary info that would get me fired for sharing.

But this was a fun little project that I can share bits and pieces of. It was actually quite long but I’ll just show a few of my favorite drawings.

I was tasked with creating a graphic novel to showcase a new product.

We like to try new and fun ways to keep our audience interested. Our audience is internal to our company…so you, the general public, would not have access to this.

Here are sketches of my two characters. I did nine of each.

Actually, I did more than that but narrowed it down to nine of each.

This is to show the evolution of some of the sketches.

Draft 1, our characters at the burger place.

I thought it needed a little more detail.

Then I decided to keep it cleaner and add digital color. I did several separate sketches of texture that I could use as walls and floors and stuff like that. But those were added in with Photoshop.

I had to make room for dialog and other text (which I’ve pulled from this image.)

Here is a view of our characters at home.

The gist of the story is “if you buy this product, it will help you track your healthy lifestyle.” That’s about as much info as I can share.

And this is why I LOVE my day job.
