ICAD #59 and #60
The ICAD challenge is nearly over…one more to go.
I liked working on this size. Plus have the lined paper helps. It’s not like staring at a blank sheet of paper and wondering what to do. Sometimes, you just follow the lines and see what happens.

flower doodles and icad #58
A peek at my sketchbook. These are some wildflowers in my garden.
Today’s icad is a quick doodle of a candy wrapper.
And to finish up, here is this month’s list:
Currently, I’m…
Reading…“Diaries: 1969-1979: The Python Years” by Michael Palin and “Casual Vacancy” by J.K. Rowling. Just finished “Honolulu” by Alan Brennert
Cooking…Lots of Zucchini Parmesan Crisps…easy and yummy.
Eating…Salads = good. Bread with Fig Jam and Brie = delish!
Drinking…Pink lemonade
Doing…Lots of garden and flower paintings. Fresh flowers in abundance here.
Going…To farmer’s market every Saturday. Sometimes I get veggies, sometimes sunflowers.
Hating…That I have “golfer’s elbow”…I have to wear a brace for a while…it’s crimping my style! (No, I’m not a golfer…not sure what I did to get this!)
Enjoying…My Imaginary Well-Dressed Toddler Daughter
Finishing…Index-Card-A-Day challenge
Missing…Abby. Every. Day.

icad #56 and #57
This week Tammy has some really fun prompts posted for ICADs.
Here are my cards for yesterday and today.
Yesterday I had a rough day.
I woke from a wonderful dream about my Abby cat. The dream stayed with me all day long and I kept having little crying jags. It’s a good thing I work from home so I can have these little moments all to myself!
Even though she is gone, she is still my little Alarm Cat!! In my dream, Abby had jumped on my bed to wake me up. I got to hold her and pet her. It was so nice spending time with her again. Even if only in my dreams. I miss her little face. And her soft fur.
I think I’m turning into one of those crazy cat ladies. Think? Who am I kidding? I know I’m turning into one of those crazy cat ladies!!

icad #55
This is a continuation of doodles dated July 22. I “found” these images in a jewelry catalog that came to my house.
I don’t know why they sent it to me…I never wear jewelry…but somehow I’m on their mailing list.
Anyway, the jewelry is pretty amazing and I found lots of patterns in the pieces.

icad #54, flowers and a thank you
Another homemade stamp (the feather)
Another painting of flowers from my garden
And a “thank you” to Robin at Pink House Studio for her gift. She sent me these cute notecards last week. I ♥ them.

icad #53
I made two homemade stamps. I think the bottom one looks like a grassy field so I went in search of a quote and found this.
Anybody out there remember Phyllis Diller?? She was a character.

three icads and a bit about skyspace
This morning, we got up at 5:00 to head over to see James Turrell’s Skyspace: The Way of Color at Crystal Bridges. It’s hard to explain what this is exactly…but the artist has created this bunker type building with an opening at the top. In summer, they open it for sunrise about once a month, but it is open every evening for sunset.
What happens is that the colors of the sky and the colors of lights inside blend to put on a grand show.
The colors are so vivid and spectacular and ranged from burnt sienna to pink to purple to blue to green to turquoise, etc.
It was definitely worth getting up at 5:00 on a Saturday!!
Here are some icads to catch me up. Until tomorrow….

summer of color -- the end
I’ve had one of those weeks where I’ve been pulled in a hundred different directions. My little pea-sized brain feels zapped of all creativity.
My job is to design web sites. This week, I’ve had 4 different sites coming to completion. So overtime and meetings with clients and programmers have worn me out!! But I love my job. Every (stressful) minute of it.
Tomorrow I’m taking the whole day off to recharge my batteries. I’m lucky that I have a great boss who understands the importance of that!
For the final week of Summer of Color, I spent a few evenings trying several different paintings for the colors Sage and Sepia. I just couldn’t do it.
Nothing. Zip. I’m throwing in the towel on this one. So if you have been following my progress on that challenge….well, sorry. I got nothing!
Except…
I decided to finish up the foo foo drink series and I came up with these two bright paintings. Sage and Sepia…nope. Bold and Bright…yup.
Here’s a run down of all previous weeks paintings. I really like how they turned out. This has been a fun series to work on. I just wish that I could have come up with a Sepia and Sage one....

icad #47 and more fresh flowers
A sunflower doodle for today’s icad.
And more fresh flowers from the garden. With the lack of rain here, everything is drying up. I’m either going to have to paint faster or find another subject to work on. Everything is starting to look a little droopy.

icad #42 and sumer of color #5
Here is today’s icad.
Tammy has posted some fun themes and prompts that have given me some good ideas for next week’s cards.
And we are at Week 5 at Summer of Color.
Here is my contribution for Candy Apple Red and Yellow. There is red in there. I promise. It’s just that I kept getting carried away and making orange :-\
Oh, well.

fresh flowers and icad #41
The lilies are starting to disappear from the garden so I had to paint this one while I had the chance.
Zinnias and cosmos and salvia…those will be around for a while.
Today’s icad…a quick paint splatter doodle.

icad #40 and daisies
This is a doodle from memory…no roses in the yard at the moment.
Fresh flowers from my garden.
The one and only thing I like about this hot weather is the abundance of flowers I can bring indoors!

icad #37 and a flower painting
Today’s icad…I love this quote!
Here are a few photos of flowers from my garden. I did the painting on watercolor paper cut to 6” x 18”…so, of course, that wouldn’t fit in my scanner!

icad #35, apr #64 and a doodle
Happy Friday to you all!! I had a busy day in the studio yesterday. Here are a few.
My daily icad. New prompts came out yesterday. Woohoo…Thanks, Tammy!
Playing in the Artist’s Play Room. I hope I’m not too late to contribute a monochromatic painting for this week’s theme.
And last, a little doodle about a 4th of July memory. We always had homemade ice cream on the 4th of July.
When I was (much) younger, ice cream makers were hand-cranked. It was hard work! I always convinced my brothers that since I was the biggest (older and wiser, too) that I should be the one who sat on it to hold it still. They got the chore of turning the handle.
These days, I have a small ice cream maker. It makes about a quart or quart and a half. Very small but has a hand crank. I can do it myself…no need for someone to sit on it and hold it still ☺
Yesterday, I made key lime ice cream. It’s yummy!!

summer of color #4 and icad #33
I had a little trouble with this week’s color combination – Pale Pink and Charcoal Gray.
I’ve been working on a “foo foo drink” thing for Summer of Color, and up until this week, using very bright, bold colors.
I was momentarily stumped…until I came up with this idea…pale pink sunset and an empty glass. Hope this works for the challenge.
And here is today’s index card…monochromatic…with a twist.
