creative tuesdays :: wizard of oz
“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” is the theme this week at Creative Tuesdays. Thanks to Michael for hosting.
This theme was perfectly timed with a conference I went to last weekend. We had to draw a book cover for either Peter Pan or The Wizard of Oz. Naturally, being from Kansas, I HAD to choose this one!
Today, is election day here in the U.S., I can only wonder who will be the man/woman behind the curtain tomorrow! All I know is that my daughter and I voted opposite so have cancelled each other out!! Oh, well, I put my vote and voice out there!
Please take a few minutes and look at other artists’ interpretations of this week’s theme.

Fantastic picture, I especially love your lion and also how you have done the sky.
ReplyDeleteYou did such a great job with this! Yes it is an important day with these elections
ReplyDeleteso cute! I like that toto is blue. no ruby slippers? I've never read the book, saw only the movie so I suppose Dorothy don't get her slippers right away.
ReplyDeletegood take on the theme.
good catch on the ruby slippers! In the book, the witch/Dorothy's slippers were actually silver! Since I was designing a "book" cover, I felt I had to go with silver. But I really LOVE the movie's ruby red slippers!
DeleteI so love this, Sue. Very glad you joined us too adn how apropos that the theme could tie into your homework, as it were! Whee....!
ReplyDeleteThis is very fun. Of particular note, I really enjoy the scarecrow, the lion's curly main and that fabulous pattern rendered into Dorothy's dress. The whole piece is just jubilant even. Well done! thank you so much for adding it to our co-op. Great job!
Well done! ♥♥♥♥
ReplyDeletemakes me happy to look at it!
ReplyDeleteOh so very cute! I LOVE your version. Love the bright green which really sets off your illustration. :)
