good news...bad news
Sorry that I’ve been away for so long. Just wanted to drop a note here to let you know that I’ve not been feeling well so am taking a short break. Hope to be back VERY soon!
Good news:
Bad News:
Good news:
- Feeling better every day.
- Have caught up on my rest until the year 2017. At least.
- Am thankful that I have good insurance.
- Although my grandson and I didn’t get to have “fun” last week…I’ve discovered that he has the makings for an EXCELLENT Doctor/Nurse/Barista. Whichever path he chooses!
- The numbness in my left arm is not heart related.
- I got to watch all of Season 1 of Downton Abbey. Now I know what all the fuss is about. It’s a really good show!
Bad News:
- They can’t determine why my left arm is numb.
- Abnormal stress test results. More heart tests coming.
- Unable to sit up for long periods of time.
- I haven’t been able to spend any time in the studio.

work in progress

You might remember this image from a week or so ago.
Here is how it’s looking. I’ve been working a little at a time using watercolor and colored ink.

This weekend I have company coming—my daughter and the whole gang—so not sure when I’ll get to touch this again.
Hope you have a good weekend!

i remember...
A little background for this post–
Earlier this year, I got an idea that I wanted to start writing stories about myself. These stories wouldn’t be for anyone in particular. Mostly just for me.
I don’t know if I was feeling nostalgic or feeling the need to let the universe know that I am here or if it is just a desire to be a renaissance woman…I don’t know. But I knew that I wanted to put to paper my stories.
So I found a book at the library. I liked it so much I bought a copy for myself. It’s called “Old Friend from Far Away” by Natalie Goldberg. It’s full of writing exercises to help you “find your voice.”
One exercise that I really, really like is called “I Remember.” You spend 10 minutes and just write. Don’t edit yourself. Don’t think too hard. Just write down things you remember.
So I did.
I have several stories..all of them silly…but very fun for me.
Anyway, I’ve started doodling some of my memories and thought I would share.
Does anyone else remember roller skates and skate keys? I always had my skate key tied to an old shoestring and kept it around my neck when I skated. You had to keep it handy because your skates came off. A lot! And you would have to sit down and use the key to get them back on your shoes!

roadside attractions
Sorry for my lack of posting lately. So much to do…so little time.
I have a few works in progress…will share soon.
Here are a couple of doodles from my trip to Oklahoma. I drew them when I got home and realized that I hadn’t posted yet.
Every overpass that we came to had TONS of swallow nests underneath. When we would pass under, the birds would just fly and swoop all around. There were HUNDREDS of birds in the air around us. Very cool.

Also, saw many longhorn steer along the way. Now, I’m a Kansas girl and I see cows all the time…but not many longhorn steers. I think that’s an Oklahoma/Texas thing. I don’t know.

potted plant...which has nothing to do with this post

Short weekend here. Drove to Stillwater, OK for my brother’s wedding. It’s only 3 hours each way…but I don’t do well sitting in the car! My husband and I took turns driving but still…I just hate car trips.
I would never make it as a truck driver or someone who travels by car a lot. Ugh.
Needless to say, I didn’t get any studio time this weekend.
I have TONS of ideas for drawings/paintings…now if only I can carve out some time to get started.
