Just a few quick fruit paintings.
Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, oh, my!
Just grapes.
Watermelon on fishy tablecloth.
Lemons, limes and orange in fruity bowl.

new paper
Whenever I order art supplies from Cheap Joes, they always include a little goodie in the package. Sometimes, it’s a pen or an eraser. Once I got a paintbrush, another time some water-soluble pencils. Last week, they sent me a sheet of this new paper called terraskin by mitz…made from rocks.
Rocks??
It’s a little heavier that regular paper…with a very smooth surface. It reminds me of Yupo as the watercolor doesn’t absorb. These three paintings were done on Sunday and are still a little wet in a few places.
I tried one painting using ink first. The ink never dried and the paint just smeared it. Needless to say, that one went into the collage pile.
Since watercolor isn’t absorbed, it sort of sits on top of the paper and if you keep working it, you get mud. Fortunately, you can easily wipe it off and start over. It does have little water bubbles that dried in the paint and it gives it a nice texture. I think.

i remember...
Today is my parents’ 54th wedding anniversary so I thought I’d post something that included them in the picture. When I was little, it didn’t take much to entertain me and my siblings.

doodles and scribbles
Happy Monday! I took off a few extra days last week so it was hard to get back into that whole work thing again ☺
I’m signed up for a workshop at the end of July. I spent this weekend doing some pre-work for the class. Making sketches, some small practice paintings and taking lots of photos to use for reference. I’ll share my “before” workshop pictures later this week.
For now, some doodles…

sketchbook pages
I don’t know about the weather where you are…but it’s HOT here! Still over 100 every day so I’m doing my best to keep cool.
This month at the Sketchbook Challenge the theme is Circles. Doodles like these are great therapy. They don’t require a lot of thought…and you can let your mind wander.

And this one….a work in progress. Not sure whether to add color or not. I sort of like it the way it is.

i'm back
I’m finally able to sit for longer periods of time without my arm bothering me. Slowly things are getting back to normal.
I had time for a couple of doodles this week.
Me at hospital. Bored.
Me at home. If I keep my arm propped up on a pillow, it doesn’t get numb.
And last, it’s watermelon season and I eat as much as I can in my favorite melon-shaped bowls!!
