taking a short break

I’m going to have my head wrapped around work stuff for a few days.

Be back soon…

lightning bugs...

Or fireflies? I grew up in Kansas. There we called them Lightning Bugs. Whatever you call them, we’ve had them in abundance down here in northwest Arkansas.

My grandson has been visiting this past week. Every evening he grabs the jar with the holes in the lid and catches as many as he can. We are strictly “catch and release” so after he gets about 10 or so, the lid comes off the jar and he starts all over again. Probably catching the same 10 that he just let go!!

june...so far

Sorry my posts have been so erratic lately. My grandson is here for a visit.

I’ve been working in the morning while he sleeps in/eats breakfast/plays computer games. He’s 10 now, so he’s pretty self-sufficient.

Then we have lunch and, well, the rest of the day is just jam-packed with trips to the waterpark, library, and Braum’s (neighborhood ice cream spot).

Here are some doodles from my sketch diary. Stay cool!!

mango melon recipe

Watermelon season is nearly here!! I could eat my weight in watermelon…I love it that much.

But then I could eat my weight in chocolate…hence the constant battle with the bathroom scales!

I found this recipe a few years ago and always look forward to summer so I can make this. I try and keep a big container of it ready to eat in the fridge. It helps in the battle with the chocolate. Sort of.

The ginger gives it that extra kick in flavor. You can find crystallized ginger in the spice aisle. It’s can be a little pricey. I try and buy it in bulk from the India market when I go to Kansas City.

Enjoy!

more garden doodles

One of my favorite things to do is to sit in my backyard in the evening. Just sit. The colors are amazing.

Everyday it just gets better and more colorful.

Even though it’s a lot of work…back breaking, hot and sweaty work…it’s so worth it.

To just sit and look at the flowers in the garden.
